    What do you do when you face struggles or temptation or opposition? Three Options on Handling Struggles ● Get Angry and Seek Revenge ● Whine and Complain ● Give Up A fourth option – Pray The Background – Acts 4:1-22 The Church’s Action – Acts 4:23-30 (ESV) The Burden was shared. – v. 23 Galatians 6:2 (CEB) Praised God as the Sovereign Creator – v. 24 Genesis 1:1 (NJKV) Acknowledging the culture was in Opposition to God – vv. 25-26 Acts 4:18-20 (NLT) Acknowledged it was about Doing God’s Will – vv. 27-28 Romans 12:2 (NIV) John 14:10 (NCV) They Cried Out to God – vv. 29-30 Prayed to speak the Word of God with boldness Prayed for God to validate the message with mighty acts God’s Answer – Acts 4:31 (ESV) The place was shaken They were filled with the Holy Spirit They spoke the Word of God with boldness What do you do in difficult times? Without Jesus you have no hope. With Jesus you have all the resources of heaven We access Jesus and His resources through prayer You need a personal relationship with Jesus

Daniel 6: Daniel prayed after a law was passed that forbid praying to anyone but the king Daniel’s most intense prayer is in Daniel 9:1-23 The Prayer of Daniel: A Prayer that is Centered – Verses 3 & 9-10 Sincere Necessary Humbled A Prayer that is Clear – Verses 16-17 Simple Priority Sensitive A Prayer that is Confident – Verses 12-15 In God’s covenant - Hebrews 7:22; Hebrews 8:6; Hebrews 12:24 In God’s character – righteous, good, faithful A Prayer that is Compelled – Verses 1-2 By problems By promises A Prayer that is Contrite- Verses 4-5 Brokenness Honest Hope Our God is a God who invites people to Himself. Prayer connects us with this inviting God. Prayer is simply our talking and listening to God. Have you to taken God up on His invitation to you?

John 17:3 (CEB) Philippians 3:10 (NLT) It is so important that we have been given weapons by God to destroy anything that hinders that. – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (ESV) Paul’s Desire for the Ephesian Believers – Ephesians 1:15-16 (ESV) Christian Life has two dimensions (1) Faith toward God (2) Love toward to people Paul prays for enlightment on both of these areas. Enlightment comes from God. Enlightment come to the hearts of people. Paul’s Payer for Enlightment – Ephesians 1:17-23 (ESV) Verse 17 – To Know God Not to know about God but to know God, knowing God as a Real Person. John 17:3 (CEB) – Salvation Philippians 3:10 (NLT) – Sanctification 1 Corinthians 13:9-12 (NIV) – Glorification Verse 18a – Know God’s Call Galatians 1:15 (CEB) – By Grace 2 Timothy 1:9 (ESV) – To Be Holy 1 Peter 2:9 (CEV) – Out of Darkness into Light 2 Peter 1:3 (NIV) –To Glory and Goodness Verse 18B – Know God’s Riches The riches here are God’s inheritance in us. God looks on you as a part of His great wealth. God deals with us based on our future not our past. Judges 6:12 (ESV) – God calls Gideon a might man of God John 1:42 – Jesus calls Simon, Peter (rock) Our lives are to be controlled by who God says we are. Verses 19-23 – Know God’s Power Four Aspects of God Power: Power or Dynamite or Dynamo Working or Energy Strength or Force Might or Ability This is divine, eternal energy that is available to us now. Do you know God? Are you following God’s call on your life? Are you experiencing God’s riches and power? Philippians 2:13 – Look to Jesus

We are commanded to pray for others. – 1 Timothy 2:1 (GWT) We are to intercede for others. Intercede: to act or interpose in behalf of someone in difficulty or in trouble Paul intercedes for the Philippian believers in Philippians 1:9-11 (NKJV) I Have You in My Prayers A Prayer for Maturity Love →Abounding → Knowledge and Discernment It involves both the heart and the mind A Prayer for Character Sincere: to be tested by sunlight Blameless: not to cause others to stumble or to give others an excuse to not believe God wants this character because it is the character of Jesus and allows us to experience the best of life Two Questions: Will it make others stumble? Will it make me ashamed if Jesus should return? A Prayer of Service Filled and Fruitful – John 15:4 (ESV) What is this fruit? Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV) – Fruit of the Spirit Luke 10:2 (NIV) – New Believers Colossians 1:10 (HCSB) – Good Works Hebrews 13:15 (ESV) – Praise The fruit does not make a great deal of noise producing fruit. It allows the life with in it to work. Galatians 2:20 (NIV) The result is that God is glorified. The work of God begins in your own personal life but it has to grow beyond you into the church. It is when we as God’s Family have each other in our Minds Hearts Prayers That produces joy and peace That all begins when we love each other enough to pray.

    Godly leaders find their identity in their relationship with God.

    Godly leaders pray as if God is their only hope.
    Godly leaders pray as if life itself depends on it.

    Every follower of Jesus is a leader for God in the world.
